Where Craftsmanship Shines
If you are new here welcome. I am Lucinda a mixed media artist who loves doing art and crafts in many different mediums. I run Caticorn Crafts with my partner Mark, who is a keen woodworker and up-cycler. We both share a love for all things vintage and quirky and this is reflected in the work that we produce. I make decoupage jewellery, resin jewellery and beaded jewellery especially Crystals which I am taking a diploma course in at present. I also produce resin items, decoupage items including my speciality light up bottles. I screen print and hand paint fabric items such as tea towels, bags etc. I make cards for all occasions along with rag wreaths that can be used anytime of the year or occasion. I am also learning how to cross stitch and will be incorporating that into my products, but my love for paper crafts and crystals is where my heart belongs, and it is these items you will find the most of in my shop, stall or website.
As my regularly followers on Instagram and Facebook know, I have had an eventful couple of years, both in my professional and personal life. It all started two years ago with the opening of our shop in Aldershot Wellington Centre to then collaborating with Cindi’s Homemade Gift Emporium and opening up a much bigger shop after years of doing local Craft fairs, Artisan Fairs and Fundraising events in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. I’m afraid this also coincided with the death of my father, my partner Mark becoming ill with long Covid and myself being diagnosed with stage four Head and Neck cancer. I inherited my family home in Chelmsford, Essex, and decided at the end of last year to relocate to my old home to recover and start a fresh new life after living in Surrey for 22 years. After receiving news of my remission in March of this year, it felt the right time to plan the next stage in Caticorn Crafts’ development; so began the search for either a shop or craft fairs or both. We looked at a few places over Essex, but we kept returning to the Battlesbridge Antiques and Craft Centre due to the lovely atmosphere, and the wide range of shops and dealers housed there over three areas. I would like to announce on this page that we are now preparing to open a shop in The Old Granary at Battlesbridge.
My followers may have also notice that our logo has undergone a major upgrade to reflect this new era in Caticorn Crafts’ history.
This is the first of many blogs on our brand-new website, so please keep checking in regularly for updates on our shop at Battlesbridge, fairs we are attending and brand-new items that we are making and selling. Please find and follow us on Instagram and Facebook as well as Etsy marketplace.
All the best
Lucinda
